I settled on a couple of tilapia\u2014they seemed hardy and full of life\u2014and a few small goldfish. &quot;They\u2019ll make a lovely contrast,&quot; I thought. Now, I wasn\u2019t just building a garden; I was creating an entire ethos of existence. The tilapia, as I found out later, were less friendly than they looked. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I got everything set up\u2014water pumping through the pipes, bubbling as if it were some kind of magic potion. Oh, and the smell, don\u2019t get me started! I figured out that having a system like this would never be a \u201cset it and forget it\u201d affair.
