A couple of days later, the water started to smell oddly sour. The kind of smell you\u2019d expect from under a rotting log. Alarm bells rang in my head. I had no idea what was wrong.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Then, just as I thought I had nailed it, the water started turning green. With a splash of panic, I Googled, \u201cWhy is my aquaponics water green?\u201d Turns out, it was algae\u2014a sign that I was doing something wrong. Who knew?
