Call it a midlife crisis, or just pure curiosity\u2014whatever it was pushed me to dive into the world of hydroponics and aquaponics. I mean, what could possibly go wrong? Not my proudest moment, that&#8217;s for sure.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Anyway, got it up and running, and soon enough, the fish were swimming about. For a few days, things seemed smooth. It felt spectacular as I watched them dart around, full of life. I thought I&#8217;d nailed it. But then, the water started turning green. And I mean bright, glowing green\u2014like something out of a sci-fi movie. I\u2019d heard about algal blooms, but let me tell you, it\u2019s quite a different matter when it\u2019s happening in your little backyard paradise.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Smell_of_Frustration\"><\/span>The Smell of Frustration<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>There I was, scrubbing the sides of my water tank with a dish brush that had seen better days.
