Well, that was me one rainy Tuesday afternoon, sipping apple cider and scrolling through online articles about aquaponics systems. I had visions of a backyard oasis with fresh vegetables, vibrant fish, and my kids\u2014never once asking, \u201cAre we there yet?\u201d\u2014happily plucking juicy tomatoes. Amid stumbles with the pump and inefficiencies with my nutrient mix, I felt my resolve waver. <\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>At one point, I locked eyes with one unfortunate tilapia; the poor creature lingered near the water\u2019s surface, residing somewhere between a tragic comedy and a fishy soap opera. I assumed he was just shy or hiding from the rest of the flock, but upon closer inspection, I discovered he was on the brink of death.
