For me, that something was aquaponics, and it all started on a lazy Saturday afternoon in Blacksburg. Panic set in. \u201cWhat went wrong?\u201d I whispered to myself, pacing back and forth like a parent waiting for a wayward child to come home. I quickly Googled my symptoms \u2014 algae, it said. My excitement turned to dread. I thought I\u2019d nailed it but was now facing the possibility of a fish funeral before the first plant had even taken root.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Realizing I needed to take action, I shadowed a local aquaponics workshop that was being held on the outskirts of town. It was there that I learned about equilibrium \u2014 the delicate balance between fish and plants.
